Nottingham

18 November, 4.30pm-8.30pm

Nottingham’s festive lights switch on (6.25pm) to complete the winter wonderland alongside the opening of the Victoria Centre Ice Rink and Frankfurt German Christmas market in Old Market Square. The lights will ripple throughout the city centre to the contemporary tree at Canning Circus.

West Bridgford

21 November, Central Avenue and Gordon Road, West Bridgford

Take in the atmosphere as you stroll around the farmers market and craft fair, pick up last minute gifts in the local shops or simply take off the chill with mulled wine, mince pies, hot chestnuts and other tasty treats.

The day will be filled with entertainment, from traditional choirs to singing Christmas Crackers - there’ll be plenty to get you in the Christmas mood! Why not bring the children down to see Father Christmas - he’ll be setting up camp in his magical grotto on Gordon Square for one day only. Tell Father Christmas how good you’ve been and post your Christmas list to Lapland.

There's musical entertainment and carol singing on Central Avenue from 2pm. The exciting build up to the big switch on will be filled with a special performance from Britain’s Got Talent 2009 semi finalists, Irresistible from 4pm onwards. Hear them belt out their 1940s inspired melody of hits including Candyman, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and many more.

Join the Mayor of Rushcliffe and Trent FM Breakfast Show hosts Twiggy and Emma as they light up West Bridgford with an array of fireworks and twinkling lights in our finale and grand switch on at 5pm. http://www.rushcliffe.gov.uk/doc.asp?cat=8580
